Improve Oil Recovery Processes by Augmented Low Salinity Water and Polymer Flooding
This project was conducted using Berea core samples and Saudi heavy oil to mimic the Saudi oil reservoirs condition. Several lab experiments were conducted using Berea sandstone cores starting with base runs of continuous secondary 10 times diluted sea water flooding (low salinity) and continuous secondary high salinity water flooding in separate experiment. Augmented low salinity-polymer flooding was tested in different scenarios. The preliminary results showed that the ultimate recovery produced by the augmented method reaches 10 - 15% of (OOIP) compared to the high salinity method.
