King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), represented by the Saudi Patent Office (SPO), organized recently an awareness lecture to publicize the concept and applications of intellectual property rights and patents.
The lecture was given at the Northern Border University (NBU) in Arar at the presence of Professor Ibrahim Hasan Al-Zahrani, NBU Vice Rector, the teaching staff of the University, students of both the University and the general education. The lecture was also aired to female students via the CCTV transmission.
The lecture was given by Mr. Ahmed Alsalama, Patent Specialist at the SPO, through which he reviewed types of intellectual property, the importance of protecting copyrights, electronic techniques of the patent application and the fundamental requirements for patent registration.
The lecture targeted promoting awareness of intellectual property rights and their vital impact to promote creativity and innovation.
The lecture comes within KACST's Initiative represented by the SPO to launch a program to foster realization of intellectual property that targets students of both the general education and university education in all regions of the Kingdom. The intellectual property program is also rich with specialist workshops and lectures.
