His Excellency Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh

Chief of Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST)

  • His Excellency Eng. Al-Faleh was appointed as Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources in Saudi Arabia by the Royal Decree issued on May 7, 2016 AD (30 Rajab 1437 AH).
  • He served as Minister of Health in the Kingdom from April 29, 2015 AD (10 Rajab 1436 AH) to May 7, 2016 AD (30 Rajab 1437 AH).
  • In his capacity as Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, His Excellency oversees the sectors of energy and minerals in the Kingdom, the activities related to industry and electricity, and the National Industrial Clusters Development Program (NICDP), which, together, make up more than half of the Kingdom’s economic output.
  • His Excellency has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) since April 29, 2015 AD (10 Rajab 1436 AH). He was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco from January 2009 until his appointment as the Chairman of its Board and Saudi Minister of Health.
  • His Excellency Eng. Al-Faleh supervised the establishment of Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures, a venture capital company which invests in energy technology companies of strategic importance to Saudi Aramco, as well as Saudi Aramco Entrepreneurship Center (Wa’ed), which helps develop Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to contribute to the promotion of sustainable economic development.
  • With three decades of experience at Saudi Aramco, H.E. Eng. Al-Faleh held a number of key management positions in various departments of the company, including Executive Vice President of Operations Business Center, Senior Vice President of Gas Operations and Senior Vice President Industrial Relations. He was also named to Saudi Aramco’s Board of Directors in 2004 AD.
  • His Excellency Eng. Al-Faleh concurrently chairs the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden).

  • His Excellency is a member of the International Advisory Board (IAB) of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).
  • His Excellency is a member of the Board of Trustees of Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University (PMU).
  • His Excellency is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Sharjah.
  • His Excellency is a member of the Board of Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Fund for Women Development.
  • His Excellency is a founding member of the International Advisory Board and Chief Executive Officer for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
  • His Excellency served as Chairman of Dammam City Municipal Council.
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi National Industrial Cluster Development Program (NICDP).
  • Member of the Board of Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC).
  • H.E. Al-Faleh was named head of the World Economic Forum’s Oil & Gas Community.

  • In 1982, H.E. Eng. Khalid Al-Faleh earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in the US.
  • He received his MBA from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 1991.
  • His Excellency holds an Honorary Doctorate from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
  • In 2009, Eng. Al-Faleh was awarded King Abdulaziz Medal (First Class) for his service.
