About the center…..

The National Robotics and intelligent systems center aims at creating a research and development Program that will contribute to the national economy, perform relevant knowledge and technology transfer, generate research and skilled human capital, and strengthen the science and technology base. Research and development (R&D) is meant to advance robotics and intelligent systems through relevant research, comprehensive science-based modeling, simulation, experimentation, and through technology transfer.

The center allows a continuous and systematic approach to the design of robots and intelligent systems, from basic research to development of practical applications; creating new energy to propel KACST’s efforts challenges to intelligence. The Program will manage and direct selected technology transfer projects in addition to applied research and development projects. The center also aims to be on the level of advisory position to help in upgrading local industry infrastructure and other robotics related sectors and support the public in education and medical sectors.

Although the vast majority of the world-wide robotics is industrial, the center considers environmental, medical, education, civil and surveillance related applications. The structure of the center is flexible enough to have the ability to adapt rapidly to changing environments and to seek and embrace opportunities in both technology and in processes, while maintaining the historically proven principles of KACST.
