Nine Foreign Countries Discuss at Riyadh Changes in Petroleum and Gas Subsurface Reservoirs
The Petroleum and Gas Research Institute at King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in collaboration with Japan Cooperation Centre Petroleum (JCCP) organizes the 1st Joint International Workshop for the Earth’s Surface and Subsurface 4D monitoring in 2012 with the participation of stakeholders and experts in fields of petroleum, gas and water who represent nine foreign countries at the Conference Hall - Building 36 KACST’s Headquarters tomorrow (Monday).
The workshop targets exchanging national and international expertise in fields of surface and subsurface monitoring through presenting more 40 scientific papers that discuss subsurface reservoirs’ changes keeping pace with the amount of oil and gas production and pumping using multiple technologies which, by their turn, cause impressive surface changes.
The workshop will review seismic survey and gravity technology that KACST works to develop its mechanisms in collaboration with JCCP through sending high frequency sustained seismic waves that are recorded through monitoring devices that are stationed at selected sites to monitor reservoir’s status almost constantly.
Experts from the United States of America, Japan, Canada, China, Russia, Italy, France, Czech Republic and Australia, in addition to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are taking part in the workshop. The workshop program and titles of presented work papers can be reviewed through the following website:
