Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Social Affairs and KACST to prepare Scientific Studies of interest to the Ministry

The Ministry of Social Affairs and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) signed a joint cooperation agreement to implement a range of studies and researches related to the work of the ministry.
The agreement was signed today at KACST’s headquarters by Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed' Uthaymeen, Minister of Social Affairs and Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel, KACST President in presence of Prince Dr. Turki Bin Saud Bin Mohammad Al Saud, KACST Vice President for Research Institutes, Dr. Abdulaziz Mohamed Al Swailem, KACST Vice President for Scientific Research Support and Dr. Abdullah Abulaziz Alyousef, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and Family.
This agreement targets managing and following up
scientific researches concerned with issues of the Saudi society, such as preventing and addressing domestic violence, preparing awareness programs by various means for the social protection for the regions of the Kingdom, a comprehensive study of orphans with special circumstances in addition to preparing a scientific study to establish a National Registry of Persons with Disabilities, entitled “National Registry of Persons with Disabilities”. This study would also comprehend chartering the basic lines of this Registry, its objectives, scope of work and technical and technology requirements.
This agreement provides that KACST and  the Ministry of Social Affairs select research teams and projects’ management and  facilitate all requirements accomplish this study including  information and procedures besides enabling the scientific research team made up of professionals and specialists in legal, social, psychological, educational fields, as well as specialists in the field of social affairs and social research at the Ministry as well as a  number of international experts to visit to branches of the Ministry that they studies require their being visited and meeting officials in charge there.
This agreement is an extension of coordinating efforts between government bodies and KACST due to KACST’s proven capabilities and extensive expertise and experiences in fields of studies and research in addition to its academic and scientific expertise in conducting studies needed by these bodies and entities to prepare scientific researches that serve specialists and community members as well.
