The awareness campaign on raising the efficiency of using electricity in household appliances and how to maintain them during the summer, organized by the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency (SCEE) at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) will be launched on Thursday 20th Sha’aban.
Dr. Naif Mohamed Al-Abbadi, SCEE general manager, stated that the campaign comes within the framework of one of the most essential tasks of the Centre, namely, spreading out awareness in the field of energy conservation and the successful applications in this field, particularly with the increasing domestic consumption of electric energy, and the high pressure resulting from waste and lack of rationalization and standardization in energy consumption.
Dr. Al-Abbadi indicated that spreading out awareness about conserving energy has become imperative and important step in view of its role in promoting efforts exerted by the Saudi government and its commitment to the optimal use of domestic sources of energy besides promoting the efficiency of its production and consumption, in line with what our Islamic religion dictates pertaining the importance of rationalization and the rejection of extravagance and lavishness and squander.
Dr. Al-Abbadi pointed out that the awareness campaign carried out by SCEE targets large segments of the public and will begin this year in Riyadh City, specifically in Ghernanta Commercial Center, where the campaign will be presented in an attractive and interesting way to the public and visitors, through a giant reproduction of an air conditioner that is one of the most important electrical appliances that we use in our daily life.
Dr. Al-Abbadi revealed that the air conditioner will be the focus of the campaign for this summer as one of the house-appliances with high electricity consumption, adding that through the reproduction, instructions and advices will be provided to the public and visitors to rationalize energy use for household appliances in general in a tutorial entertaining and attracting templates in addition to some media messages.
The SCEE Director General concluded that the current awareness-campaign is considered the flagship of the Centre with regard to awareness campaigns and the rationalization of consumption, within a number of key tasks assigned to the center since the Saudi Cabinet approved, in its resolution no. 363 dated 24/11/1431, the conversion of the National Program for the Administration and Rationalization of Power Consumption at (KACST) into the SCEE.
