      Prince Dr. Turki Saud Mohammad Al Saud, KACST Vice- President for Research Institutes emphasized the importance of fields of mathematics and physics as basics for engineering sciences besides their role in transferring the kingdom into array of advanced countries.
During the ceremony of honoring winning male and female students at the contest of Mathematics and Physics National Olympiad for the two academic years 1430/1431h – 1431/1432h, that KACST organized in its headquarters in Riyadh, the Prince stressed the need for efforts of all stakeholders to collaborate to move from the phase of celebrating winners of national contests in the kingdom to “celebrating our sons and daughters winning of international contests”.
KACST Vice- President for Research Institutes highlighted that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia lives a golden era in all fields of life under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques  King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz including fields of science, technology and education that has been positively reflected in achieving various achievements in this important and vital sector that will contribute into a qualitative move in the field of education in the kingdom particularly with  efforts exerted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) on whose top comes  Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saud, Minister of Education his two deputy-ministers and all who work in the this important field.
Prince Dr. Turki, in the honoring ceremony that was held in the presence of Dr. Khalid Abdullah AlSabti, Education Deputy Minister for male-students Affairs and Dr. Norah AlFayez,  Education Deputy Minister for female-students Affairs, the winning male and female students, their guardians and a good number of officials and stakeholders, pointed to this standing active cooperation in this vital filed between KAST, MOE and King Abdulaziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity  for the sake of propelling the wheel of development to place the kingdom among the international advanced- industrial countries.
KACST Vice- President for Research Institutes revealed that KACST gave these two fields special importance through The Comprehensive National Plan for Science, Technology and Innovation (CNPSTI) within the frame of the eleven technology strategies to which mathematics and physics are added as an strategic field adding that a strategic plan in the field of mathematics and physics has already been charted to support researches in these two fields.
Prince Dr. Turki hinted that the kingdom is still not up to the level of winning mathematics and physics international contests, explaining that this is not because of the lack in the capabilities of “our sons and daughters” but because of the lack in programs that qualify them for such contests that are held in English.
From her side, Dr. Alfayez indicated that the march of scientific developments and prosperity in our country is going on, adding that paying attention to innovators and creative mentalities is not a novelty in our modern times but a present component in the social view in all ages stressing that in our country there are creative brains and distinct capabilities that are worth attention, care and development.

Dr. Allayed highlighted that the sincere interest of MOE to cooperate with scientific organizations that support and encourage scientific and research activities in all fields such as KACST that have exerted and still exerting much effort to encourage and support sons and daughters of this country in and on all education levels, elaborating that this interest spring out of MOE raising the level of educational process, supporting all educational activities including mathematics and physics national Olympiad for to polish and sharpen students’ skills, develop their capabilities and assisting them to achieve innovation and excellence.
Concluding the ceremony, Prince Dr. Turki and Dr. Alsabti honored the winning male-students winners while Dr. Alfayez honored the winning female-students winners.
