To Supply Center of Excellence for Wireless Applications with LTE Technologies
Science & Technology Signs an Agreement of Understanding with Huawei Technologies Company

King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) represented by the Center of Excellence for Wireless Applications (CEWA) signed today an agreement of understanding with Huawei Technologies Company to supply CEWA with the latest wireless Long Term Evolution (LTE) technologies that keeps pace with CEWA’s vision to foster modern wireless technologies researches in the Middle East area, Turkey and Africa.
The agreement was signed in CEWA center in Riyadh by Mr. Fahd Al-Husseen, CEWA Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Chang Kai, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei for Technologies and Saudi Investment Company Ltd. in the presence of Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Noghaither, Intel General Manager for Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hani Al-Gebali, the General Manager of Middle East Centre For Mobile Wireless Technology Excellency “MEMIC” in Intel, Dr. Mohamed Al-kanhal, the Supervisor KACST Computer Research Institute, Eng. Mohamed Algasser, Saudi Telecom Vice President for Business Sector Services, Eng. Fereeh Alshaalan, Director of Industrial Development Directorate of Telecom in addition to a bouquet of communication and information technology pillars in the area.
On this occasion, Mr. Fahd Al-Husseen, CEWA Chief Executive Officer, indicated that this agreement comes within the frame of KACST and Intel commitment to promote the area’s capabilities in the field wireless technologies research and development.
Al-Husseen elaborated that the objective of getting these new technologies is to finalize supplying CEWA laboratories with the latest integrated technologies of the fourth generation that make CEWA the unique research institute that couples WiMAX technologies with LTE technologies “to secure the chance for our researchers to excel in distinguished wireless researches”.
CEWA Chief Executive Officer called on all those who are interested in wireless communication technologies and their applications to make full use of CEWA’s expertise and equipments that is considered among unique centers in the Middle East area.
By his turn, Huawei Executive Officer lauded the role played by the company to crystallize the vision that CEWA aspires to, considering this agreement as an additional proof of the company’s consistent support to wireless technologies in the Middle East area through providing CEWA with the latest LTE technologies.
It is worth mentioning that CEWA is one of the fruits of KACST & Intel cooperation and was launched late last year with the purpose of promoting the level of research and knowledge capabilities in wireless technologies for individuals and companies in the area.
CEWA provides research and consultancy expertise for communication companies, governmental bodies, communication equipments providers and authorities that organize the communication sector to support wireless applications and securing laboratories to evaluate wireless networks’ performance and raise their levels.
