KACST had allocated more than S.R. 35 Million to support 29 research proposals within the 29th Annual Scholarship Program in its initial phase. This program is intended to encourage Applied Scientific Research to facilitate the National Development issues through selection of some subjects handling some problems in both public and private sectors in K.S.A.
Researchers of both genders had presented their research proposals to KACST from various government departments. After studying the research proposals and conformity with terms, conditions and regulations set by the General Administration for Research Scholarships KACST had approved supporting the research proposals including 11 medical researches, 10 Engineering researches and four researches is the fields of agriculture and basic sciences.
The approved researches includes a major research entitled (Child Genetic loss of vision: Genetic Clinical Study), research proposal under the title (Development and Assessment of Local Non-traditional Resources for Compound Poultry feed structure), and (using Historical and cultural heritage of K.S.A.: Usage of camel milk and some other Saudi Traditional fermented food as a natural source of the useful bacteria for human health (probiotic) and the safe conservation material in food industry).
Proposal had also included (usage of remote sensing technology and geographical information system to study the natural environmental changes and spread of Malaria in K.S.A.) and the research proposal (Development of supporting Automatic control system in Civil Security).
It is to be mentioned that the Annual Scholarship Program had supported up to date 763 research proposal with S.R. 637 million. 155 researches were in Agriculture field, 206 researches in Medicine, 124 researches in the field of basic sciences and 274 researches in Engineering sciences, and four researches in humanities.
