Mission Statement

Implementation of all applied scientific research programs & studies related to the environment as well as the development & allocation of water resources, the development of biological resources & the transfer & localization of modern technologies, in order to lay down a structure of the sustainable development of natural resources & the protection of the environment

Responsibilities

   1.To conduct applied research & studies aimed at enhancing natural resources, protecting the environment, as well as transferring & localizing modern technologies in areas related to the institute’s domain
   2.To create & develop an effective mechanism to link the outputs of scientific & technological research in environmental & natural resources to production factors in both sectors in coordination with relevant bodies
   3.To implement research & study programs related to natural resources & the environment jointly conducted by KACST & national, regional & international research institutions
   4.To propose & activate measures, legislation & regulations related to the use of technology & the preservation & protection of the environment & natural resources
   5.To provide scientific & technical consultation to other bodies in areas that fall within the institute’s domain
   6.To provide an adequate research environment for the institute’s researchers
   7.To propose an HR & work methods development program in the institute in conjunction with the Management Development Administration
   8.To suggest an organization plan for scientific activities falling within the institute’s domain in conjunction with related departments.
   9.To submit periodic reports on the institute’s activities
  10.To submit the institute’s annual budget proposal
  11.Any other tasks assigned to the institute within its specialty
