Mission Statement
Transfer & localize nanotechnologies in the Kingdom, utilize them to fulfill the national developmental needs in industry, health, agriculture, the environment, as well as security & defense sectors, & others. Establish an infrastructure of these technologies by building fully integrated & equipped laboratories to serve researchers & related bodies, & to stimulate the private sector to invest in nanotechnologies by using these laboratories, which would lower initial costs for investors
Responsibilities
1.
Draw, steer & develop national policies in the field of nanotechnologies.
2.
Set mechanisms for the private & public sectors & researchers to benefit from nanotechnology laboratories & results of scientific & research activities in the field of nanotechnologies, commercialize the centers’ products to related bodies.
3.
Perform applied national research in fields where nanotechnologies can be employed to develop various sectors such as the industry, health, agriculture, the environment, as well as security & defense sectors.
4.
Coordinate with national research & scientific sectors to promote research & development in the field of nanotechnology.
5.
Create a national database to list all the scientific & technical resources related to research & development in the field of nanotechnologies.
6.
Cooperate with universities & research centers to improve the level of researchers & technicians in the area of nanotechnologies.
7.
Adopt & coordinate scientific & research projects with specialized sectors domestically & internationally.
8.
Advise the private sector to invest in promising nanotechnologies.
9.
Provide strategic consultation & studies in nanotechnologies by forming consulting workshops.
10.
Represent the Kingdom in world scientific organizations & events.
11.
Devise programs to develop the center’s human resources by training & missions.
12.
Develop work procedures in the center in coordination with the Management Development Administration.
13.
Plan for the organization of administrative & scientific activities that are within the center’s responsibilities.
14.
Promote scientific & technological awareness in society in aspects related to the center’s scope of responsibilities.
15.
Prepare annual budget proposal of the center.
16.
Submit periodic reports on the center’s performance.
17.
Any other tasks within the scope of the center’s functions..
Administrative Divisions
1. Nanotechnology Research Program
Mission Statement:
Determine priorities & strategies of nanotechnology research based on the current & future needs of the Kingdom
Responsibilities:
1.
Determine research areas in nanotechnology based on the Kingdom’s needs.
2.
Create work groups from all sectors of scientific research in the Kingdom in every field of nanotechnology.
3.
Perform a periodic review of results in nanotechnology research.
4.
Hold training programs & scientific conventions on nanotechnology.
5.
Market the outputs of nanotechnology research in the private sector.
2. Nanotechnology Laboratories
Mission Statement:
Create nanotechnology laboratories under one roof, & allow researchers from the public & private sectors to use them
Responsibilities:
1.
Create, operate & maintain nanotechnology labs.
2.
Schedule the use of nanotechnology labs amongst researchers in the Kingdom.
3.
Train researchers on how to use & take advantage of equipments available in nanotechnology labs.
