Responsibilities
1.
Interconnect various government, academic & research bodies & provide them with internet access.
2.
Support the development of the infrastructure of the national academic & research network, supply it with internet access.
3.
Provide technical advice on internet related issues.
4.
Provide unit customers with support services.
5.
Cooperate with other related bodies within KACST on computer or network research.
6.
Interconnect & operate unit branches in various cities in the kingdom.
Administrative Units
1- Network Operation Center
Mission Statement
Management, operation, development, machine & software maintenance in the unit.
Responsibilities
1.
Technical management of the network.
2.
Installation & maintenance of network software & equipment.
3.
Connect government, academic & research bodies to the internet.
4.
Manage internal databases.
5.
Provide technical consultations.
6.
Develop new software, systems & feasibility studies.
7.
Supervise laboratories work.
8.
Storage & organization of electronic records.
9.
Manage the unit’s network numbers & customers.
10.
Provide national hosting primary or secondary services.
11.
Protect network & equipment security.
12.
Deal & document with network emergencies.
13.
Determine technical procedures & standards to be executed by the units departments.
14.
Provide technical support services.
2- Administrative support management
Mission Statement
Carry out financial & administrative procedures related to the unit’s work.
Responsibilities
1.
Carry out financial activities & prepare annual financial statement of the unit.
2.
Monitor the accounts of the unit’s customers.
3.
Review the invoices of the cost lines of the links of the unit.
4.
Monitor the work of the unit’s employees in coordination with related departments.
5.
Ensure the supplies of the units in coordination with the department of procurement & competition.
6.
Prepare the contracts of the unit’s work in coordination with the legal department.
7.
Coordinate with KACST ‘s external auditor.
8.
Respond to the comments of The General Comptroller related on the unit in coordination with related departments.
3- Customer Service Administration
Mission Statement
Manage & monitor the non-technical issues of the unit’s customers.
Responsibilities
1.
Prepare & issue the invoices of the cost lines of the links of the units.
2.
Conduct awareness programs to demonstrate the optimal use of the internet for research & academic purposes.
3.
Coordinate with the communications & IT committee on services provision issues.
4.
Coordinate with data providers on service provision for government & academic bodies.
