Mission Statement

Study phenomena related to future developments & progress in science & technology & related & effected sectors, use these phenomena to serve the scientific & technological sector, & related & effected developmental sectors in the Kingdom.

Responsibilities

   1.
      Study the scientific & technological developments worldwide, anticipate their future & impact on the science & technology sector & other related sectors, to explore potential opportunities & utilize them for national development.
   2.
      Monitor future changes in strategic technologies, offer visions to concur with these developments & impact research, suggest future courses of action & take advantage of these developments to ensure the concurrence of research activity in the Kingdom with this progress.
   3.
      Conduct periodic research on the developments of scientific & research sectors & forecasts over the next decade.
   4.
      Develop a futuristic course for scientific & technological research based on the foreseen developments over the next decade.
   5.
      Provide futuristic alternative visions of the Kingdom in the topics covered by the studies conducted.

General functions

   1.
      Develop plans to develop work in accordance with the regulations of KACST.
   2.
      Suggest a program to develop HR through training & missions.
   3.
      Improve work procedures & methods.
   4.
      Suggest a system of organizing related scientific & managerial activities.
   5.
      Help promote science & technology awareness in society.
   6.
      Prepare Annual Budget Proposal.
   7.
      Update Administration Unit Internet site.
   8.
      Use information technologies to perform work
   9.
      Identify quality standards for the performance of the unit, & a mechanism for implementation.
  10.
      Submit periodic reports on performance.
  11.
      Any other tasks related to the area of responsibility of the unit.
